Stumbled on this video that was posted about nine months ago on youtube. It is an Ansett 767 flight from MEL to SYD in 1987. It has a great deal of detail showing the rare 767 FE. Figured some might want to see such a video.

Ansett required it when they first got the airplane. It was a union issue (IIRC) similar to the airlines that had FEs when the 737 first came out. Not sure how long they lasted at Ansett but the cockpit was eventually changed over to the standard layout.

Beautiful video.
Strange procedure, gear down with flaps 1 at 210 kts. |

No that seems pretty close.....
Boeing actually publishes the manufacturers suggested flap retraction/extension schedule in the Boeing 767 FCTM (Flight Crew Training Manual) but companies don't have to follow it when operating the airplane (mine does however). Being light, flaps 1 @ 210 seems logical and they put the gear out early to help them slow down.

It was a massive blunder from Ansett and one of the many problems that contributed to the demise of that airline. They were the only ones who insisted on a Flight Engineer station in the 767.
