Hi Darryl

Just a quick message regarding the LDS 757. It's been quite a long period of time since this project was announced and to the best of my knowledge, not a single piece of information has been forthcoming about it - nor any updates of any kind. I do not wish to seem to be a trouble maker, however the silence from LDS on this project is both worrying and unusual.

It is worrying because there have been numerous developers over the years release one product, announce development of another and then never deliver on that product. I hope that is not the case with LDS, as the only real competition in this section of the FS market for LDS is PMDG. This silence is unusual because I am not aware of any other developers who maintain complete and utter silence for so long. Even some of the less reputable developers out there offer periodic, if vague, updates.

As a business owner myself, the one thing I have found to be of constant importance is communication with clients - both current and potential. I understand that the participants in this project provide their time and expertise on a part-time basis, but the total lack of communication from LDS on this project is a truly unusual way of conducting a business.

Obviously it is up to other people what they choose to do with regard to following this forum and following the LDS 757, but I personally know of dozens who have given up and no longer even follow LDS. Personally, I rarely check this forum anymore - perhaps once a month at most. It is to the benefit of LDS to communicate with your clients because, after all, its your clients that keep you in business.

Regards,

Thanks, Matthew.

Your point of view is duly noted.

We don't announce anything until we have something to announce. The project is ongoing.

If the previous offerings are anything to go by, LDS are making it smooth and bug free. That takes time.
Optimizing it, takes even longer. That is the code of thse developers. Others issue half baked and bug ridden programs, you won't get that here.......................Wink

How about an X-plane version of 767? Will we see this in the future?

Too bad, in the words of former GM ceo John Welch who said

"we must adapt to the changes in the market, or die"

Can we get on a mailing list or notification list when the 757 comes out.  Since there are no updates and little to go on.  I get fustrated in checking for morsels of info.  Do you have a mailing list we can register for and when the 757 comes out?  So when it comes,  I'd get notified.  I'll keep the silly posts down.
I'd even pre-pay for it now and you send it to me when ready.  Take your time with the 757, but understand the fustration in checking once day, once a week for any info.

I don't believe there will be any need for that.

Believe me that when the 757 does surface all the Flightsim media will be buzzing with it.

"all the flight sim media will be buzzing".  Yeah that doesn't help me.  I don't subscribe to any flight sim magazines.  I doubt CBS news will cover it.  20/20 won't have a feature on it.  The BBC won't cover it.  Only on this forum wil you know of the release.

You can better visit this forum once in a year ;-)

Personally I believe that the project started but it is stuck since a long time. It could be due to the temporary bad situation with the flight simulator or anything else.
Developing an addon can't really take so long even the best in the world, that's a matter of fact.

So I agree with Daryl that there is no point to ask or talk about the 757 in this forum.

That statement has me wondering how you ever found out about the 757 at all. Please enlighten us?

I believe Level-D will create a great 757 but really how many published 757s do we need on the market??  We have Captain Sim, Just Flight, Quality Wings!!

What we need is a 777 period.   Wilco/Feelthere and Captain Sim have the only payware 777 available that I know of whilst Capt Sim doesn't have a 2D Cockpit (a disappointment to say the least)

Level-D would develop a great compatible version thereof.
Are you stuck in Peak Hour Traffic? Fly instead.

As a freight only flyer I really hope LDS expands their horizons with the 757.  If modeling all the different versions is what is taking so long then I will at least take a good look at it when it is released.  If not then I'll stick with my QW 757 and be happier for it.  It may not be fully fleshed out but it's well more than enough to get the job done and makes a great companion to my MD-11 from PMDG.

As to the post above me, two different companies are currently working on the 777.  And I'm pretty sure at least one of them will make it the best thing since sliced bread.

You missed my point.  When things were moving fast - a new plane every 6 months - checking the website for updates worked great.  But when there is no news for years - I get tired of checking every week - just to see nothing.  So instead of me checking, why doesn't LD contact me when it is complete.   I'll be the 1st to buy it.

Simple - if there are no updates, let me know when it's done.

paul, I can't see your point.
Apart my personal feeling about the 757LD, I would see no reason to check every week. Check once in a year or even less ;-)
